Jenis Openshaw

Jenis first heard about Shasta Land Trust from some friends at an event four years ago. Shortly after, she became a member and has been involved with SLT ever since!

Initially, she first volunteered with SLT when a friend asked her to help decorate at a Wildways event. After that, she decided to use some of her free time to become more involved with the organization.

Jenis is interested in volunteering in many things SLT related, as well as in the community. She actively volunteers with decorating for Wildways events and assisting the SLT staff in the office. She has also been a Wildways host and provided her writing skills on the Newsletter Committee. In the community, Jenis has been volunteering her time at the Library bookstore since 2008. She is also interested in trail work and clean-ups, but has not had the opportunity to do so. We’ll make sure she gets out there this year!

Jenis likes volunteering her time at the SLT because it allows her to chat with friends and other volunteers, which is always great fun! She really likes the mission of SLT and thinks it’s very important to the conservation of this great area.

Jenis first came to the area for a math teaching job, and has recently retired. After a trip to Mexico City, she has decided to work on her Spanish skills and make it to a Spanish-speaking area at least two times a year. Combining her love for hiking, taking photos, and her new found passion to learn the Spanish language, she has many amazing trips ahead of her!

Thank you, Jenis, for all that you do for SLT!
