Learn about the incredible bird species seen along our Sacramento River property with a walking bird tour led by the Shasta Birding Society. Kids will learn tips to ID birds and will also enjoy a fun art activity with the Spring Rivers Foundation. You’ll even get a chance to see and learn about a variety of unique geckos, lizards, and other reptilian critters!

Gather first for a delicious picnic lunch overlooking scenic Lake Helen and hear Mike Magnuson, Lassen Park biologist, give a brief lecture on the Park’s pika program “Pikas in Peril” and recent vaccination efforts. After lunch, drive to several park locations and walk for about ½ mile to a promising pika site, in hopes of catching a glimpse of these cute alpine members of the rabbit family.
