A Timely Conservation Initiative for a Sustainable Future

Climate change is transforming the seasons we hold dear, bringing hotter summers, drier conditions, and increasing threats like wildfires.

But there is hope. Today, we’re excited to announce the launch of a landmark effort that will shape the future of Shasta County and protect the lands we all hold dear: Shasta Land Trust’s first-ever Climate Conservation Initiative.

Climate change is already affecting our community—through wildfires, extreme heat, and the strain on our precious natural resources. But we can take action to safeguard our region’s future. The Climate Conservation Initiative is a bold, 10-year strategic plan to protect vital land, prioritizing areas that will provide the greatest climate benefits.

This Initiative will identify lands to protect that reduce the impacts of climate change by supporting carbon sequestration, ensuring the viability of sensitive habitats, safeguarding agricultural lands that support our local food network, and protecting the natural resources we all depend on.

We care deeply about these lands, and we know you do too.

Through this 10-year Climate Conservation Initiative, we are committed to identifying and protecting key lands that will provide the most significant climate benefits.

Over the next decade, we will work closely with our community to identify key lands for protection and implement strategic, climate-smart actions to achieve our goals.

I invite you to visit our website today to learn more about this Initiative and the importance of land conservation for a sustainable future in Shasta County.

Together, we have the power to protect the places we love and build a legacy of sustainability, resilience, and hope. Thank you for standing with us as we embark on this critical journey. Your support and dedication to our mission are what make bold efforts like the Climate Conservation Initiative possible.
