Calling All Volunteers!
/In December, Stacy Wear filled our new position of Communications and Engagement Coordinator. One of her responsibilities is to work closely with our current volunteers and to engage new volunteers to get involved with the Shasta Land Trust. As she settles into her position, she is very eager to meet each of our supporters and develop lasting relationships with those of you who continue to offer your time and energy to our organization.
“Call for volunteers in 2016!” A note from Stacy Wear:
Volunteering is one of the most rewarding activities our supporters can participate in. By volunteering you are showing your interest in land conservation and supporting the Land Trust’s mission. For nonprofit organizations monetary donations and volunteers are our lifeblood. Without the contribution of valuable man-hours through volunteering, we wouldn’t be able to grow and be successful at conserving and protecting land in our community. The additional support of dedicated volunteers allows our organization to complete essential activities such as monitoring conservation easements, outreach to the community, landscaping, participating in trail and river cleanups, planning and hosting Wildways events, and office work.
Volunteers receive several personal benefits from committing their time to our organization, including the opportunity to meet new people, to explore beautiful properties in the North State, and the satisfaction of knowing that giving your time to our organization allows our small nonprofit to extend our resources. The Shasta Land Trust also hosts an annual Volunteer Appreciation event that all volunteer s are invited to. This gives us an opportunity to do something nice for you and to personally say “thank you” for your volunteer efforts.
How can I volunteer with Shasta Land Trust?
Call, email or stop in the office to talk with Stacy Wear. Whether you can commit to only a few hours of support or several hours to complete a certain project, I would love to hear from you!
We are looking for volunteer participation in one or more of the following areas:
- Host an event to connect people and enjoy the attractions in our local area for our Wildways event series. We're still looking for hosts and co-hosts for these 2016 events: Riverfront Playhouse, Fall River Dinner Party, Serendipity Farm Pick Your Own Fruit and Canning Class, Parkville Cemetery Tour and BBQ, Great Shasta Rail Trail Mountain Bike Trip from McCloud, and Whiskeytown High Route Trail Hike
- Event support at our Wildways Kick-off on February 27. Volunteers are needed to assist with event set-up and clean-up, the bar, ticket sales, silent auction and raffle, and cashiering
- Assisting with the office maintenance and administrative work
- Participating in trail and land cleanups by joining our Stewardship Team
For those of you who have volunteered in any capacity in the past, I must send my utmost appreciation and a heartfelt thank you for all you have done! And for those of you who are interested in volunteering, but aren’t sure how you can contribute your time, please connect with me to get set up with a fun and rewarding project.
Sincerely,
Stacy Wear
